Episode 02 | Mr. Inoussa Seogo, teacher in Nanoro, Burkina Faso
In Burkina Faso, half of the population lives below the poverty line, permanent jobs are rare – and there is a shortage of skilled workers. Girls and women are particularly affected. TÜV AUSTRIA has been supporting the construction of the technical school Lycée Technique Béthel de Nanoro since 2019 and donated €15,000 again this year.
The project was initiated by the mayor of Nanoro Jaques Konkobo and the Maria Enzersdorf architect Peter Klein, both graduates of HTL Mödling.
The project is part of the ICEP association’s RéCouVrer program, which strengthens the resilience of vulnerable people in West Africa.
Every Advent Sunday, we provide insights into this initiative, which opens up career prospects for young people.

Mr Inoussa Seogo has been teaching at the Lycée Technique Béthel de Nanoro for two years: “Taking part in the awareness-raising event organized by the RéCouVrer project on gender and inclusion of people with disabilities has made me fundamentally rethink the way I teach and interact with my students. Before, I was not aware that certain behaviors can discourage girls or students with disabilities. After the training, I integrated participatory approaches into my teaching, giving a voice to all students without distinction. I also started working with parents to sensitize them about girls’ education. Today, the girls in my class are more involved and the students with disabilities feel more included. I can say that this activity has changed my professional practice and helped to make the school more equitable.”
