How long does it take?

The check takes about 45 minutes.

What do I need to take with me?

Please take your vehicle registration with you for the inspection. The digital registration certificate cannot be read at the §57a assessment centers, so please always bring the original registration certificate with you.

For non-registered vehicles and historic vehicles, we also require an additional approval document (type certificate, COC, individual approval certificate, extract from the approval database).

In the case of historic vehicles, logbook records for the last 2 years must also be brought along.

Gas-powered vehicles must be presented with a gas tank that is at least 2/3 full in order to be able to carry out the leak test.

Can I drive abroad with an expired licence plate?

We recommend that you only drive abroad with a valid inspection sticker.

My §57a sticker on the windshield is damaged. Where can I get a new one?

There are relatively high penalties for damaged stickers. Replacement stickers can be issued at all inspection centers upon presentation of the registration (not only at TÜV AUSTRIA). The certificate is stored in a central database, you do not have to have the last §57a certificate with you.
