Environmental simulation facilities in Vienna set new standards for international product safety

21.10.2025

With the opening of the new environmental simulation facilities, TÜV AUSTRIA is expanding its testing expertise and underlining its role as an innovation leader in product safety.

Environmental simulation tests are important for manufacturers because they ensure the reliability and durability of products under realistic environmental conditions such as heat, cold, rain, snow and other climatic conditions.

Machines, devices, parts and components are tested under extreme conditions in eight ultra-modern, flexible climate chambers.

TÜV AUSTRIA CEO Dr. Stefan Haas: “We are not only creating innovation, but also perspectives and a strong signal for the future.”

Mit der Eröffnung der neuen Umweltsimulationsanlagen erweitert TÜV AUSTRIA seine Prüfkompetenz und unterstreicht seine Rolle als Innovationsführer in der Produktsicherheit. Whether heat pumps, sensitive electronic devices or fast charging stations – the demands on modern products are constantly increasing. TÜV AUSTRIA’s environmental simulations help to master these challenges. Even complex scenarios such as icing under normal pressure or in aviation-like conditions can be simulated precisely. For example, the expansion of water in cold conditions is used specifically to test the load-bearing capacity of test specimens.

A special highlight of the event, which was attended by over 100 representatives from industry and research , were the live demonstrations of environmental simulations, which were complemented by a guided tour of the TÜV AUSTRIA Technology & Innovation Center in Vienna-Liesing. The guests were given an insight into key testing areas such as electromagnetic compatibility testing, mechanical component testing and industrial computed tomography.
