Fire protection in general

Defensive fire protection

The fire department is referred to as defensive fire protection – we can offer you assistance in finding solutions with the fire department.

Technical fire protection

This technical term refers to technical equipment.

Acceptance tests must be carried out in many areas of technical fire protection. These are official requirements. In the case of the fire alarm system, an acceptance test must be carried out by an “accepting body”.

An inspection test must be carried out after two years (fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems, gas extinguishing systems, smoke and heat extraction systems, pressurized ventilation systems).

Fire compartments

Is it a fire compartment? Is the object/wall found a fire compartment? The area would be shown as a fire compartment in the fire protection plan. What do I do to ensure that the wall is a fire compartment? You can find more information on fire doors here.

Extinguishing agent calculation

Fire extinguishers must be available in every company. An extinguishing agent calculation can be carried out with the help of TRVB 124. The fire protection officer learns this calculation during his training. Companies that sell fire extinguishers are also familiar with this calculation and can apply it. However, these companies usually calculate very well and not always in the interests of the client.

Fire protection book

TÜV AUSTRIA has a bound fire protection book that can be purchased from the Academy.

The fire safety book is the documentation for the fire safety officer and is the most important document for his work.

By submitting it to the employer at least ¼ a year and having it signed, the fire safety officer can discharge himself from liability. All events, activities and incidents are entered in the fire safety log.

The TÜV AUSTRIA fire safety book is “court-proof” and has been an important part of many companies for years and can be seen as a support document for the BSB.

Self-checks

The TRVB 120 maps self-inspections. The TÜV AUSTRIA fire protection book contains 131 inspection items.

All matters relating to fire protection that have to be checked are entered with the time factor (month/quarter/year).

There are a lot of control books in the company and because there are so many, we have developed a control book in which all control books are summarized.

  • Fire alarm systems
  • Smoke and heat extraction systems
  • Pressure ventilation systems
  • Escape route lighting
  • Dry extinguishing water system
  • Wet extinguishing water system
  • Door closers
  • Drinking water sealing

Order form for fire safety officer/fire warden

Order forms are provided in TRVB 119 (Organizational fire protection). These order forms are very important for the fire safety officer and fire safety warden because they specify exactly which activities these appointed persons will subsequently have to carry out in the company.

TÜV AUSTRIA can support them with these forms so that they do not overlook or ignore any points when making the appointment, which would subsequently cause problems in the company. TÜV AUSTRIA’s experts will help you to ensure that everything is formally and legally in order.

Determining the cause of fire

TÜV AUSTRIA provides you with generally sworn and court-certified experts for fire protection, fire cause investigation, explosion protection and technical employee protection who can provide support in the event of disputes.

Implementation of the 1st extinguishing aid

The Workplace Ordinance states that all employees must carry out drills with portable fire extinguishers once a year if there is an increased risk of fire. TRVB 119 stipulates that all persons employed at the site must provide evidence of training within three years. TÜV AUSTRIA offers such training courses and will be happy to visit your company to carry out this training in a familiar environment for your employees.
