Technical documentation for ATEX equipment in Equipment Category 2 (non-electrical) submitted to a Notified Body in accordance with Directive 2014/34/EU, Article 13(1)(b)(ii)
Technical documentation for ATEX equipment in Equipment Category 2 must allow for an assessment of the equipment’s compliance with the requirements of the Directive.
Technical documentation for ATEX equipment in Equipment Category 2 must also cover the design, manufacture, and operation of the equipment to the extent necessary for this assessment.
It includes, among other things:
- A general description of the equipment.
- Designs, manufacturing drawings, and plans of components, subassemblies, circuits, etc.
- Descriptions and explanations necessary for understanding the aforementioned drawings and plans as well as the operation of the equipment.
- A list of the standards applied in full or in part, as well as a description of the solutions chosen to meet the safety requirements of the Directive where standards have not been applied.
- The results of design calculations, tests, etc.
- Test reports

- 1-year filing (term: one year with automatic renewal for one year at a time)
- 10-year filing (Term: 10 years with automatic renewal for one year at a time)
