Inspection of railroad crossings
In Austria, pursuant to Section 9 of the 2012 Railway Crossing Ordinance (EisbKrV), every railway crossing must be inspected at least once a year to ensure it complies with the requirements set forth in the relevant notice.
This inspection requirement applies to every at-grade railroad crossing located along a public road with a main or branch line, a streetcar line, a connecting line, or a freight line as defined by the Railroad Act of 1957 (EisbG), regardless of whether the railroad crosses the road or joins it.
Regular inspection of railroad crossings is crucial to ensuring the safety of all road users.
