This service is a type ofanalysis of the technical and environmental characteristics of a product or building material, which aims to verify whether and how it can contribute to the credits of the LEED certification.

LEED certification applies to buildings, not to individual materials, yet in informal parlance designers, companies and general contractors often demand from their suppliers LEED certified products, LEED materials or a LEED certification of products.

These are misnomers, but widespread. There are in fact no LEED-certified products: building materials and construction products can however contribute to the building’s LEED credits.

Ollum supports manufacturers of building materials and components in the LEED mapping of products, analysing the available technical and environmental information. In particular, we analyse:

• Availability of EPD (Environmental Product Declaration)
• emissions VOC of materials
• documentation on recycled content or circularity
• compliance with REACH and other material regulations
• any technical data sheets and environmental certifications available

This analysis makes it possible to identify to which LEED credits the product can contribute and what documentation to provide to designers.
