Measurements of influence
Cathodic corrosion protection of a pipeline can affect other underground systems and lead to an increased risk of corrosion in those systems. Such undesirable effects can be detected through measurements, and measures can be taken to eliminate them.
Generally, such interference can be eliminated by reducing the protective current, repairing the insulation of the interfering line, connecting a magnesium anode to the affected pipeline in the intersection or proximity area, or establishing a potential connection between the two pipelines.
