With Michael Weberberger , TRUSTIFAI gains an experienced expert in digital transformation, AI innovation, and platform business models. Together with leading research partners, the company is strengthening its position as an independent service provider for trustworthy, secure, and regulatory-compliant artificial intelligence.
On September 1, 2026, Michael Weberberger assumed the role of Managing Director at TRUSTIFAI GMBH. The joint venture between TÜV AUSTRIA and the Software Competence Center Hagenberg (SCCH) combines independent testing and certification expertise with cutting-edge scientific research and supports companies on their journey toward implementing trustworthy AI.
“The key question for companies is no longer whether they should use AI, but where and under what conditions they can trust it,” says Michael Weberberger. “Those who can provide reliable answers to this question reduce risks and lay the groundwork for the safe use of AI even in business-critical areas.”

Many companies have already implemented their first AI applications and pilot projects. However, as these systems transition to production use, the demands increase: AI intervenes in business processes, supports business-critical decisions, and, in the form of agent systems, takes on tasks with increasing autonomy. Companies must therefore know under what conditions an AI system functions reliably, where its limits lie, and what controls are necessary.
TRUSTIFAI supports companies in this process with a broad portfolio of services. Core services include AI readiness analyses, training sessions and workshops for building expertise, the development of AI strategies, and support in implementing use cases. In addition, TRUSTIFAI evaluates AI systems in terms of security, quality, robustness, and trustworthiness; provides support for AI governance and compliance; and assists with preparations for ISO 42001 certification for AI management systems in collaboration with the accredited certification bodies of TÜV AUSTRIA.
“Today, companies need more than just technological solutions. They need guidance, security, and transparent decision-making frameworks for the responsible use of AI. This is exactly where TRUSTIFAI comes in,” explains Michael Weberberger.
Security, Compliance, and Responsibility
TRUSTIFAI’s services are based on scientifically sound methods for evaluating Trusted AI and AI Safety: A checklist has been developed in collaboration with Prof. Sepp Hochreiter from the Institute for Machine Learning at Johannes Kepler University Linz. Research staff serve on the CEN/CENELEC committees where the standards that will implement the EU AI Act are being developed. The focus is on the traceability of AI decisions, the robustness of models, transparency in data and algorithms, as well as risk and quality assessments throughout the entire AI lifecycle.
Another key focus is on data protection, governance, and ethics. Upon request, TRUSTIFAI already supports the development process and guides development teams toward trustworthy AI development.
A Bridge-Builder Between AI, Technology, and Value Creation
Michael Weberberger, a native of Upper Austria, has more than 25 years of experience in digital transformation, platform business models, and AI innovation. His professional achievements include, among other things, the reorientation of Premedia into an AI-powered platform company and the establishment of digital value chains at the Connex Marketing Group. In addition, he has been a trainer and lecturer in digital marketing and e-business for more than ten years.
Markus Manz, Managing Director of TRUSTIFAI joint venture partner SCCH: “With Michael Weberberger, TRUSTIFAI is gaining a Managing Director who combines technological expertise with many years of experience in implementing transformation. This combination is crucial for further expanding TRUSTIFAI’s market share in the growing European market for trustworthy AI.”
TÜV AUSTRIA CEO Stefan Haas adds : “When it comes to new technologies, economic success rarely depends on whether a technology works in principle. What matters is whether companies learn to use it safely, in a controlled manner, and in the right context. Our joint venture TRUSTIFAI transforms uncertainty into decision-making capability and delivers solutions for the AI requirements of tomorrow.”
