Social Impact Assessment (SIA) consulting
The Social Impact Assessment (SIA) is a tool for analysing, measuring and communicating the social effects generated by a project, programme or organisation.
More and more foundations, funding bodies and impact investors require concrete evidence of the social results achieved. It is no longer sufficient to describe the activities carried out: the change generated must be demonstrated with indicators and data.
Ollum supports organisations, social enterprises and companies in carrying out the Social Impact Assessment (SIA). Among the methodologies applied we also use the SROI (Social Return on Investment), which makes it possible to estimate the economic value of the social benefit generated.
We support in particular:
- banking and corporate foundations
- social enterprises and social cooperatives
- NGOs and third sector organisations
- companies with social responsibility programmes
- entities and organisations managing impact funds
Why carry out a Social Impact Assessment (SIA)?
More and more foundations, funders and impact investors demand concrete evidence of the social results generated by the projects. However, many organisations face a common difficulty: it is unclear which methodology to use or how to transform social impact into measurable data.
Through methodologies such as the Social Impact Assessment (SIA) or the SROI (Social Return on Investment) you can structure this process and credibly demonstrate the value generated by your activities.
Carrying out a social impact assessment can therefore offer several advantages, including:
- Strengthening credibility towards funders and foundations
- Improving competitiveness in calls for tenders and funding applications
- Quantifying the social return on investment (SROI)
What steps does our SIA/SROI consulting involve?
Let us now see what steps our support for Social Impact Assessment consists of:
1. Initial analysis and definition of impact objectives
We analyse the project or programme to identify beneficiaries, social objectives and expected results.
2. Choice of evaluation methodology
We define the methodology more suitable (SIA or SROI) and the system of indicators to measure social impact.
3. Data collection and impact analysis
We support the organisation in data collection and in the evaluation of the social effects generated.
4. Evaluation Report and Impact Communication
We prepare a structured report that allows you to communicate in a clear and credible manner the’social impact generated towards financiers, partners and stakeholders.
What is SROI and when is it useful?
The SROI (Social Return on Investment) is a methodology that complements the Social Impact Assessment (SIA), enabling translating social impacts into economic value. While the SIA measures and describes the changes generated, the SROI allows them to be quantified in monetary terms, making it easier to understand the value created.
This methodology is particularly useful when it is necessary demonstrate the social return of an investment to funders, foundations or impact investors, or when one wants to objectively compare the effectiveness of different projects.
Il nostro approccio segue le linee guida di Social Value International, standard di riferimento internazionale per l’applicazione della metodologia.
