Information on
Fire doors are designed to separate fire compartments from each other. They are installed on the basis of approval notices or necessary fire compartmentation. Fire doors can withstand a fire for at least 15 minutes and up to 2 hours. How long a fire door must withstand a fire depends on the respective requirements.
Examination
Fire doors must be checked regularly by the BSB(in accordance with TRVB 120/06 (O)) or authorized persons every 3 months for proper function in accordance with AStV § 7.
The periodic inspection and the test report are offered as a service by the TÜV AUSTRIA experts.
Records of this inspection must be available in the company. If defects have been documented, these can be found in the fire protection book.
Maintenance is specified by the door manufacturers and must be adhered to.
If a fire protection door is not marked as such (embossing on the door leaf or verification plates in the door rebate), TÜV AUSTRIA can evaluate the existing fire protection doors.
