Trailer load increase for towbars
Trailer load increase for towbars
Some vehicles in the M1 / N1 class (passenger cars; commercial vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes) have a relatively low towing capacity from the factory.
We check whether vehicles are able of higher tow and drawbar loads in accordance with the applicable regulations.
The trailer loads approved by the vehicle manufacturer apply up to a gradient of 12%. In order to reduce the loads on the vehicle and the driveline due to the increased trailer load, the permissible gradient is reduced to 8%. Of course, the standard trailer load can still be used up to a gradient of 12%. The test is based on a multi-axial test rig test (CARLOS TC Test) as well as extensive road tests with special test vehicles so that your own vehicle does not have to be subjected to the extreme tests. Find out more in our VIDEO on YouTube.
For all vehicles that have already been inspected, only a quick and relatively inexpensive inspection at the relevant provincial government office (Amt der Landesregierung) is required on presentation of our inspection report issued for the respective chassis number.
We already have the test results for many popular vehicles. We look forward to your inquiry!
