TÜV AUSTRIA accompanies world’s first certification of a steel plant according to international standard IEC 62443.
The company – exporting to over 100 countries worldwide – has long been considered a big player in Turkish industry. Now the steel producer Çolakoğlu Metalurji is IEC 62443 certified. TÜV AUSTRIA accompanied the certification process.
The individual certificates for one of the steel plants of the Istanbul-headquartered company cover the sub-areas 2-1 “Requirements for an IT security program for IACS operators” regarding the OT security management system, 2-4 ” Requirements for the IT security program of service providers for industrial automation systems” and the two closely linked parts 3-2 “Security risk assessment and system design” and 3-3 “Industrial communication networks – IT security for networks and systems”.
Thus, Çolakoğlu Metalurji covers certifiable requirements regarding OT security and is well prepared for potential threats. Securing production environments against cyberattacks now has a similarly high priority as in classic office IT. The IEC 62443 standard has established itself as an internationally recognized standard for security in the process and automation industry.
TÜV AUSTRIA conducted the audits in close cooperation with TÜV AUSTRIA Turk in Austria and on site.
“We are pleased that Çolakoğlu Metalurji relied on TÜV AUSTRIA in the certification process and that we were able to accompany the company on this journey with our experts,” emphasize Andreas Köberl and Alexander Zeppelzauer from TÜV AUSTRIA TRUST IT, the IT/OT security specialist of the TÜV AUSTRIA Group.
