MTS3000-Restan by SINT Technology: Automatic system to perform the ASTM E837-20 procedure by hole-drilling

23.05.2024

The MTS3000-Restan (acronym of Residual Stress Analyzer) allows full but simple residual stress testing, in accordance with the ASTM E837 standard. With a suitable acquisition strategy and an appropriate analysis method, it is also possible to back-calculate the residual stress variation with depth even very close to the surface. The full control of the device during the drilling and the acquisition process guarantees high accuracy of the results and reduction of the measurement uncertainty connected with the measurements.

Main features:

  • High-speed drilling technology
  • Simple, automatic and fast to use
  • Suitable for field or laboratory applications
  • Wide variety of materials (metals, polymeric and composites)
  • Evaluation of residual stresses as a function of depth
  • Facility to accurately perform drilling steps up to 5 μm
  • Control (RSM) and back-calculation software (EVAL)

For the hole-drilling technique, SINT Technology is an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited test lab according to the ASTM E837 standard. The company also produces the MTS3000, fully automatic machine for measuring residual stresses by hole-drilling. More information:
