F-GAS Regulation – Fluorinated Greenhouse Gases
The F-gas Regulation (EU) 2024/573 aims to protect the environment by reducing emissions of fluorinated greenhouse gases. It introduces quotas on quantities of F-gases produced in or imported in the EU with the aim of being phased out by 2050 and sets stricter rules to prevent emissions.
The total quota for each year is allocated to producers and importers by the European Commission, through an electronic licensing system and relevant registry of businesses. Producers and importers receive their quotas and relevant permits from the European Commission, and they are required to submit yearly reports.
