TÜV TRUST IT TÜV AUSTRIA GMBH successfully certifies EGEGAZ’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal according to IEC 62443 standard 2-1, 2-4, 3-2 and 3-3.
EGEGAZ, a company of the Çolakoğlu Group, operates the largest private LNG terminal in Turkey and is – as far as we know – the first LNG terminal in the world to receive this comprehensive certification.
TÜV TRUST IT TÜV AUSTRIA GMBH has already certified a steel plant of Çolakoğlu Group according to the same standards in 2022. The new certification once again emphasises the company’s ongoing commitment to maintaining the highest safety standards.
Certificate award ceremony
On 25 March 2025, the certificate award ceremony took place at the TÜV AUSTRIA headquarters in Brunn am Gebirge, Austria. The following representatives of the certified company attended the ceremony in the presence of Dr Stefan Haas (CEO TÜV AUSTRIA), Andreas Köberl (Managing Director TÜV TRUST IT TÜV AUSTRIA GMBH) and Alexander Zeppelzauer (authorized representative TÜV TRUST IT TÜV AUSTRIA GMBH):
- Berkim Mermercioglu, Terminal Operations Director of EGEGAZ
- Ersun Bayraktaroglu, Information Security Manager of Biltim IT Services Inc. (IT company and internal IT/OT service provider of the Çolakoğlu Group)
Advantages of certification according to the IEC 62443 standard
IEC 62443 certification offers numerous advantages, especially for critical infrastructures such as LNG terminals:
- Increased cyber security, especially essential for critical infrastructures that are vulnerable to attacks.
- Reduction of risks through the identification and elimination of digital vulnerabilities.
- Increased efficiency by taking security requirements into account in advance, which also contributes to increasing the system’s service life.
- Visualisation of quality and safety to the outside world, which can represent a competitive advantage.
