Certification audit

The certification audit is part of the certification process and an important step toward obtaining certification. Following an informational meeting with the client, the formal engagement, and an optional pre-audit—which takes place at the client’s request—comes the main part: the audit. In the first step, the auditors determine whether the company is sufficiently prepared to be eligible for certification. Among other things, the management system documentation is reviewed. Provided no major deficiencies are identified and no corrective actions are necessary, the process moves on to the next step: Here, the auditor verifies the effectiveness of the implemented management system. This involves conducting random checks of all departments and organizational units. The remaining steps of the certification process: After the results are analyzed and evaluated during a closing meeting, the client is informed of the audit results as well as any deficiencies or so-called nonconformities. If there are nonconformities, corrective actions are jointly determined and verified by the audit team. After that, nothing stands in the way of issuing the TÜV AUSTRIA certificate.
